Planning Underway for West Virginia Education Research and Technology Park

by Senator Brooks McCabe on May 19, 2010

West Virginia Education Research and Technology ParkThe selection of Battelle Memorial Institute to prepare a long-range plan for the state Education Research and Technology Park is good news for West Virginia.

Battelle is a world-class organization that will help identify the strengths and opportunities associated with the park’s future development.

The group will focus on “creating a globally-competitive, multi-tenant research and innovation center focused on bringing new technology to the marketplace,” reports George Hohmann of the Charleston Daily Mail.

Battelle has been assigned the challenge of engaging industry, higher education and national labs as key players, but this process is an outstanding start for creating a more diverse West Virginia economy.

I concur with your thoughts Senator. Thanks for all you’ve done to make this project a success to date. In five-eight years, the tech park will be alive with new private investment and new jobs.
